Hi :name:
Catch Report
Recently Intrepid Fly sent
groups to, Mozambique, Lesotho and around South Africa
Last month I took a group to a new
lodge north of Vilanculos (Mozambique).
This set up has got to be one the best locations for fly fishermen
as well as conventional anglers based on the array of fishing it
offers. The deep sea fishing presents various reefs close
to the lodge with deep canyons suited to targeting sailies. Sadly
the water was a bit cold and the fishing was not its best on this
trip. One is also able to hunt fish in a vast estuary at
your leisure. One of our clients landed over 20 fish on fly in one
day. There is a very productive point close to the lodge for all
anglers but the best location is a small island surrounded
with a 10 – 15 metre drop off, well with in reach to fly fishermen.
A 110cm queenfish was landed there. This is a must visit for all
anglers!!!
Ant received a few groups over the
past months in the Bazaruto Archipelago. Conditions
were much better than the earlier months and a good tally of fish
was recorded. King fish from 3 – 5kgs on fly, with up to 30
kgs on plugs. Plenty of bludger and queenfish between 2- 8 kgs were
landed, as well as a few sailies up to 25 kgs. In the past 3 weeks
the conditions have improved dramatically and the sailies have finally
arrived and guides across the archipelago have been successful in
their endeavours.
Fred took a number of trips into
Lesotho between April and May, targeting wild trout
in these remote streams with tremendous success. The Rhodes
region and surrounding water systems were blessed with late rains
and the best river conditions in years. The season is currently
closed, but we are readying ourselves for an exciting few months
in September and October.
Ian has begun his largemouth
yellow fish season with great success across the Vaal River. Though
his guided record from last year (20 lbs) is yet to be beaten, we
are confident that he will put one of you lucky and determined anglers
onto a buss! This is a schedule that is filling up fast based on
the demand for Ian’s experience at nailing largies.
Intrepid Fly has a number of corporate
fly-fishing trips to Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and around
South Africa lined up. Should you be interested in spoiling any
of your clients and staff, please allows us to come in and showcase
what we are about.
